What is a Parent and Child Retreat?

It's a chance for parents and kids to get outdoors and take on something together, rather than one watching while the other has a go.

Every retreat is built around what your group wants. Some come for a single day, arriving in the morning and rotating through activities before heading home. Others stay a night or two, filling the days with adventure and the evenings with the kind of time families rarely get. Some groups have every meal prepared for them. Others take over the Camp Kitchen and cook together.

Outdoor adventure, side by side

Guided activities led by qualified instructors, with all equipment provided.

Take on the Flying Fox, paddle canoes and kayaks from our private beach on the Swan River, work as a team on the Commando Course, build a raft and find out if it floats, try Archery, scale the High Ropes, or learn Bushcraft skills in our onsite bushland.

We'll help you choose activities that suit the ages and abilities in your group, so everyone can take part.

Accommodation for your whole group

We have six camp houses on site, from smaller houses suited to a single family group through to larger ones that can hold an entire school community. Rooms come in a range of configurations, and ensuite rooms are available for group leaders in every house. Three of our camp houses have disability access.

Our camping grounds are available from spring through autumn, for those who'd rather camp under the stars.

For smaller groups after something more comfortable, there's Marri Villa, our recently renovated private villa.

Catering

Our on-site kitchen runs a full service, from breakfast through to dinner, with morning tea, afternoon tea, supper and packed meals if you need them. It's led by our Chef Manager, and meals are served in the air-conditioned dining room.

Dietary requirements are looked after on request. Swan Valley Adventure Centre is a nut free site.

If your group would rather cook together, our Camp Kitchen is available for hire. The camp houses don't have cooking facilities, so this is the option for groups wanting to self-cater. It's subject to availability, limited by group size, and hire charges apply.
